Spinies are quadrupedal Koopas that first appeared in Luigi's Mansion 5: Curse of the Mansion. This only applies to the Luigi's Mansion series, while they first appeared in Super Mario Bros. when it comes to the whole Mario series. Spinies have red shells on them that have spikes on them, protecting them from jumps, and therefore, they cannot be stomped on. They are normally the animals thrown from Lakitus, but sometimes, they are solo. In the Luigi's Mansion series, they are thrown from Lakitus, only in the Bright Beach Mansion, but in their other appearances, they are by themselves. In the Bland Sand Mansion and the Liquid Lancer Mansion, Paraspinies make an appearance, being blue-shelled Spinies that have wings to fly.
